A new "thing" in our house is scones. My little brother, Garrett, and I make them together. It's like a bonding experience that involves a lot of pouting and yelling, but yields a yummy pastry at the end.
This recipe is simple and easy to follow, and the scones taste great (and, um, they taste like scones, which was a surprise considering I baked them)! I have an allergy to both gluten and dairy (I know, I know, it's the new trend-- but I actually am allergic *wink*) so my only substitutes were as follows...
- replace regular flour with all-purpose gluten free flour
- replace regular butter with oil-based, dairy free butter (I used Earth Balance)
-replace sour cream with dairy free sour cream
Each of these replacements can be found easily, and the scones are so worth it! Enjoy!
